Frequently Asked Questions

The Sloan Everett Pure Country Pedal Memorial Bike Ride is an annual charity bike ride in Breckenridge, Texas that honors Sloan Everett, who died heroically in a 2017 wildfire while protecting his family’s cattle. It’s a family-friendly community event with five ride routes, a BBQ lunch, live music, and good, old-fashioned fun. 100% of net profits go to our local volunteer fire departments: Caddo, Hubbard Creek, and Wayland.

The 10th annual Pure Country Pedal takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Check-in opens at 7:30 AM, the Welcome Ceremony begins at 8:30 AM, and riders roll out at 9:00 AM.

The ride starts and finishes at Breckenridge City Park in Breckenridge, Texas, in Stephens County. All five routes begin and end at the park, where you’ll also find lunch, live music, and family activities after the ride.

Adult registration (18 and up) is $45 and includes a t-shirt and a BBQ lunch ticket. Youth registration (ages 13 to 17) is $30 and also includes a t-shirt and lunch. Kids 12 and under register free, with t-shirts and lunch tickets available separately. You can register online at bikereg.com/purecountrypedal through Friday, October 2, and same-day registration is available at the park on event morning.

There are five routes, one for every kind of rider:

  • Greenhorn Route: 4.22 miles
  • Pony Express Route: 7.79 miles
  • Buckin’ Bronc Route: 18.73 miles
  • Top Hand Route: 31.62 miles
  • Sloan’s Route: 59.07 miles

All routes are marked, supported with SAG, and stocked with rest stops along the way.

Every paid registration includes a commemorative event t-shirt, a hearty BBQ lunch, marked and supported routes, rest stops with water and snacks, and live music at the post-ride lunch. The whole day is built so you feel taken care of from check-in to the finish line.

Yes. The 4.22-mile Greenhorn Route is perfect for kids and first-timers, and the day includes a bounce house, family activities, lunch, and live music at the park. Kids 12 and under register free, so the whole crew can ride and celebrate together.

Not at all. This is a ride, not a race, and there’s a route for every level, from a relaxed 4 miles to a full 59. Whether you’re a seasoned long-hauler or you haven’t been on a bike in years, you belong here, and the last rider in gets cheered just as loudly as the first.

Yes. The Sloan Everett Memorial Fund is a registered tax-exempt organization, and your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Support our mission here and we’ll send a receipt for your records. 100% of net profits go straight to our local volunteer fire departments.

Parking is free at Breckenridge City Park. Once the main lot fills up, there’s an overflow lot just down the road. Plan to arrive a little early so you have time to park, check in, and grab a cup of coffee before the Welcome Ceremony.
